This unit explores families past and present within the context of the students’ own world.
The structure of families, their similarities and differences, will be explored.
Positive aspects of cultural backgrounds and Indigenous Australian families will be related to personal family histories.
Historical events, changes over time and people that are important within families will be examined. Historical sources and an understanding that historical perspectives can include different viewpoints and interpretations will be addressed.
Students will develop an understanding that all living things grow, change reproduce and are dependent on their environment. The term life cycle will be introduced.
Students will conduct guided investigations by observing, questioning, predicting, collecting and recording data and suggest possible explanations for events.
