Thinking Routine- Step INside
Alice Vigors introduced me to the #thinkingroutine Step Inside. Here are two PowerPoints exploring the animations- 'Piper' and 'The Lighthouse' from the perspective of the lighthouse keeper and other elements of an imaginative text.
From Alice - This routine provides a structure to take students thinking to another level and to develop a greater empathetic response. By asking the learner to hypothesise what this person or thing observes, understands, believes, cares about, and questions, this routine helps students delve even more deeply into the person or thing. It takes the learner outside themselves to understand that one's perspective often shapes how events are understood.
Step Inside is where students are into a position and writing from that perspective to gain a deeper understanding of it. To find out more about thinking routines visit this page http://www.pz.harvard.edu/resources/thinking-routines-visible-thinking
